Felpme Scored Big This Season

We at felpme wanted to give everyone a big THANK YOU for a great season. If it wasn’t for all of your participation in helping each other we would not have had so much success. We could not have done it without you.

Here is a sample of the success we experienced because of you.  Felpme received traffic from 49 states during the football season.  Also new user signups exponentially increased month over month from September to November which is the height of the fantasy football season.

When we started felpme this past summer we planned on doing everything we could to start a fantasy sports community where people could work together to bring success in their leagues.

Our goal was to allow the community to create polls, vote, and communicate as simply as possible. We started with just a basic concept and thanks to everyone participating we received great feedback on how to improve the site.  We went through several changes to make the site as easy and useful as possible. The result is the site you see today at the end of the NFL season.

The future looks bright as we have many plans on expanding to other fantasy sports. We are excited and can’t wait to give everyone an even better experience with our next major release. It will undoubtably be a bigger release than when we first went live this summer.

We wish we could reach out over the Internet and give everyone a big high five but please accept our ecstatic thanks.

Many thanks for a great season,

The Felpme Team

Winning with the Felpme community

We believe in order to develop a great service like felpme.com, you have to chow down on your own dog food to see if it works or not.

Well the dinner bell has rung all season and we’ve been spooning it up. Mum mum mum.  All season, we’ve been creating our own fantasy football polls to get advice on who should we start, bench, trade for and it has paid off.  Let’s not be modest, it has paid off big time for us personally.  We love what we’re eating and we’re pretty sure our community is loving it too.

Let’s set the stage, three seasons ago I was asked to join a new fantasy football league on ESPN.  Played in other leagues since the 2002 but this league was different.  It was my first 12 team league and let me tell you, the talent drops off fast in a 12 team league.  First season, bounced from the playoffs in round 1.  Respectable but not good enough.  Last season, I brought up the rear and was dead last.  That hurts.

This season, well this season I had a weapon called felpme.com.  Check this out!

Yeah that’s right, we’re in the championship this year.  We feel like we already won.  Not only did we move from worst to potentially first in our league but we also validated that we have an awesome community building here and the future looks bright.

So if you’re already using felpme.com, thanks for the help.  If you’re not, bookmark us and earn those bragging rights for next season.  Thanks again, felpers!

Introducing the Leader Board

We know the felpme community has been hard at work making sure they win big this season.  In working to get ahead the community has been busy creating polls, voting, commenting and sharing on facebook and twitter.

All of these actions earn our community felpme points!  They can be seen on their public profile pages, but today we’ve introduced the Leader Board!

The Leader Board gives a total summary of the top 5 active felpme community members activities so far this season.  We hope it encourages our community to continue to help each other out because that’s what felpme is all about.

Here is a current list of actions that earn felpme points:

  • Create a poll - 5 points
  • Vote on a poll - 3 points
  • Share a poll - 3 points
  • Comment on a poll - 1 point

We know the season is drawing to a close and we appreciate our 100+ members making felpme a success.  We give out a big thanks to all of you!

Did I vote on that poll?

After voting on several polls and clicking around on felpme.com you may have wondered “Did I vote on that poll?”

Well, you no longer have to wonder. Today we’ve updated the site to show you which players you cast your vote for on a poll.  Now you can quickly scroll through the site and see the people in the community that could use your help.  So why not give it to them?

Try it out now.  Go to felpme.com, sign in with facebook or twitter and look for people that need your help.  Don’t forget to share the poll with your fantasy football friends by clicking on the poll title and using the sharing buttons.  The more people that vote the better change they have at getting the answer they need.  Then they can score big this season!

We at felpme.com love fantasy football. We also love making great stuff for great people!
After some feedback, we listened and set up a new way to vote. Instead of having to go to the poll details page, you can now vote directly on the front page. Also instead of moving your mouse cursor over a player to vote we added some nice looking checkboxes to the left of each player.
To vote now you just click the image that shows an outline of a checkbox
Many thanks for making felpme a fun community! We are enjoying all the discussions and help that’s occurring between everyone. Now go score big this season!

A Community for Startups in San Antonio is here to help!

When you think of startups, San Antonio is probably not in the top 20 list of cities that pop in your head.  In fact, it might not even be on your list.  San Francisco, New York and maybe even Austin are currently the known commodities.

It’s hard bootstrapping a startup from scratch with limited resources.  Resources meaning money but most importantly resources being knowledge.  We at felpme.com think the most important resource is that knowledge to help us grow as a company and achieve our dreams.

Thanks to Startup Ignite we now have a community here in San Antonio to bring together other startups and people thinking of joining into the fun.  What better way to build a company from scratch than to hear successful people in the industry like Jason Seats discuss how he and his partner created Slicehost using their own investments to bootstrap their way to the top.  Startups are hard work that require passion.  Passion goes a long way but having a community to bounce ideas off of will hopefully give companies like felpme.com that extra push that we need.

Hope to see you at the next Startup Ignite monthly meeting.  If you see us (we’ll be wearing our felpme.com shirts) please come introduce yourselves.  It just might be the start of something great!

Fantasy Football and Politics. Yes it’s happening.

Want an idea of how popular fantasy sports is in the United States?  Once you have lobbyists fighting for your cause as report by USA Today, you know something is mainstream.

Next time you contemplate making that trade from Michael Vick, keep in mind that lobbyist are fighting so you can continue to have a good time.

Want to know who else is fighting for your right to party in fantasy football?  felpme.com, that’s who.  We all know that it’s a lot more fun when you’re winning so why take a chance when you can tap into the collective mind of the felpme community and stop starting Jeremy Shockey and start winning with Jimmy Graham.

New Version of Felpme.com Just Released. Come and get it!

Even though it has only been weeks since felpme.com went live, we’re constantly trying to improve the site and what it offers.

We started with only allowing Facebook users to create an account.  Well now we opened it up to Twitter users too.  Why limit it to just one big social networking website when two is even better?  So stop posting that Facebook is going to start charging and start caning your opponents in the head by creating a felpme poll and share it with your friends.

The benefits of using either your facebook or a twitter account for felpme is two fold.

  1. It’s safe, secure and trusted.  Felpme has no visibility to your passwords.
  2. One less password for you to remember.  Why create another account when Facebook and Twitter can do all the dirty work for you?
  3. I just put this here to see if you’re paying attention…

Finally, when you add a player as a poll choice, your voters will now see the next two opponents your players will face next.  Why is this important?  Well if the choice is Tony Romo against Jets and their 2nd ranked pass defense or Eli Manning against the New England Patriots and their 32nd ranked pass defense, you might go for Manning now that you see his next matchup.  You might also go for Manning because Romo has the ability to have a meltdown at any moment, but I digress.

We want our voters to have as much information as possible to make an informative decision.  The more they know, the more ass you kick in your league.  We see it as a win-win.

If you have any suggestions for us, drop us a line at contact@felpme.com

Wait… More Searches for Fantasy Football than the President of the United States?

While researching the world of fantasy football we came across a blog posting from none other than Google.  If you want to see just how popular football is, head over here to see some very eye opening results on football searches requested from google.

To sum the article up, NFL football is more popular than college football.  Fantasy football has generated more searches than President Obama.  You don’t need any more evidence to prove the popularity of fantasy football.

So what does this all mean? It means that fantasy football is full of untapped potential.  Fantasy football has made casual football fans into fanatics that are turning to google for help, advice and news on what they can do to win their week and league.  Sure you could comb the desert “Spaceballs style” looking for advice but good luck.  What are the chances that the experts are going to cover your exact situation?  If that happens, put your phone or computer down and head over to vegas and bet on black because lady luck in on your side.

So instead of looking at millions of results from a basic google search, head over to felpme.com to create a poll with YOUR exact situation.  Crowdsource your poll to social networks like Facebook and Twitter or just let the felpme community chime in with advice.  Don’t get us wrong, we love google but some things better when it’s tailored just for you.

Week 1 Fantasy Football Questions are Typical

Do you smell that?  Football season is finally here and we LOVE it!  I spent all summer conditioning my body to allow me watch 11-14 hours of NFL football coverage on Sundays if you include pre-game shows.  Some people jog or bike.  I lay on my couch, move very little and blink my eyes less so I can catch every single moment the NFL provides.  I’m pretty sure my wife loves my lifestyle choice and I’m waiting for Dr. Oz to contact me about my healthy habits.

With football season starting, the gut wrenching decisions that come along with fantasy football start as well, and nothing is worse than week 1.  It’s the big unknown when it comes to flex players.  Starters are starters and those are easy lineup choices.  But what do you do once your studs are in and you need a flex player?  Which one of your late round sleepers is going to carry you a win?

It’s hard to decide alone but you’re not alone anymore.  Sure you can read all kinds of analysis from experts but guess what?  Most are not going to refer your exact situation.  Do you roll the dice with James Starks taking over Ryan Grant’s carries with the Green Bay Packers?  Do you start Mario Manningham instead with the hope that Eli Manning starts off hot?  What about C.J. Spiller?  Is he going claim his starting spot that his draft status calls for?  It’s hard to tell, but this is where you can tap into the collective minds of your friends and other football experts by creating a poll for YOUR exact situation.  The felpme community will help answer your question and you can use social media like facebook and twitter to send your friends your poll too.

So we at felpme are going to eat our own dog food and use felpme.com to score big this season and win that championship.  So head to my own poll and help a friend out.

James Starks vs Mario Manningham vs C.J. Spiller vs Jacoby Jones for a flex spot.
